Our first day of rehearsal was filled with a great deal of fun, exploration, and numerous interesting discoveries of past generations. After getting to meet the cast and crew, we engaged in a lively discussion of what celebrities and pop culture artists we admired when we were in our teens. We then compared our most popular answers (Drake, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars) to our 1950's and 1970's teenage counterparts' popular answers of Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis and Abba and Roberta Flack. After some comparison of a few songs of these artists we discovered a common thread shared was a unwillingness to conform be it style, lyrics, and/or appearance. Some of the videos we watched are posted below:
We then participated in a group activity where teams had 'tableau battles' where the objective was to form a picture that would be more unique than the other teams.
